FAQs
This page reports Questions asked by Clients and the TimePeace Help Desk’s Solution.
- Why should I incorporate TimePeace into my Business?
Simply because TimePeace effectively manages all your staff time and attendance data, and saves valuable administrator time by eliminating paper time sheets. The Roster option and the interfacing with major payroll programmes are invaluable.
More Over, TimePeace provides many in-depth reports and audits, allowing the prudent manager to maximize the return on his wage bill. - My TimePeace Server is not connected to the Internet. What do I do?
Firstly, download the Installation zipped file from the Internet onto any computer. Copy this file through your network to your TimePeace Server or copy onto either a CD or a flash drive and take to your TimePeace Server.
If you are uncertain contact the help desk or email us, asking for an Installation CD - After I have trialed TimePeace and want to start recording real data, how do I clear our practice records?

The TimePeace Help Desk and Upgrades are free. - How do I download an Upgrade?
An Upgrade can be downloaded the timePeace help desk will give you the URL in an email .
You will be advised by email that an upgrade is about to be released and that you can download the applicable
Release Notes, both in pdf and rtf format. - Why can I not delete employees?
data is lnked by Employee name.
Employees can be hidden by terminating, but because TimePeace has such extensive historical reporting options, having data excluded, makes meaningful accurate analysis impossible. - An old employee has come back to work for me again. How do I resume in Timepeace?
Version 40.2.2 onwards contains a utility which records the initial commencement and initial termination dates,
and then writes to the employee file the return start date and initializes all leave and sick leave as well as changing the employee back to current.
All this information is reportable.
Prior versions, just browse to the employee file, click terminated employees, scroll to the name and open that employee’s individual file. Make a note in the memo section of the previous termination date and then just delete the termination date, save, and your old employee is back as current.
( If you are reactivating the old Employment Contract make sure you add, as an amendment, the TimePeace Clause) - I am using the Import text file into my payroll programme facility but I find it difficult(and a bit stressful) searching the TimePeace folder for the correct Text file, so I can email it to Head Office.. Can you devise a more convenient method?
Included in Version 40.2.2 is the ability to export the text file directly to the desktop or into a new folder called
TimePeace Export Files. In the Download section is a wizard loaded application to create on the TimePeace computer, a new folder called TimePeace Export files. It is to this folder that the text file is sent. - My network is down, can I continue to use TimePeace?
Yes!
While the network is down, use the TimePeace Server machine and either log the staff attendance using the Administrator TimeClock or create a shortcut on your Server’s desktop to one of the TimeClocks. - My TimePeace Server is failing, what do I do?
Choose another machine in your network, Close all modules and copy your TimePeace folder to it.
You will need to contact TimePeace for a new activation code for the new machine.
or, do a new install onto your new TimePeace Server and restore a backup. - I have forgotten my Administrator Password and login . How do I log into Marktime?
You can’t !
TimePeace is a very secure programme and the importance of data security is paramount.
You will need to contact the Help desk who will talk you through a new password and login code sequence. - How do I fix historical errors, like forgetting to record a Statutory Day, or a staff member’s Annual leave or Sick day?
There are Utilities to fix everything you can imagine!.
Some are password protected so you will need to contact the Help desk.. - I am frequently asked to report on an individual employee’s hours over multiple weeks of employment – is it possible to generate a report which will:
Select Employee
Select two dates (these could be over a period of months)
List each days log in, log out and elapsed time between those dates?
Yes - Is there an easy way to log staff who are working off site?
Yes, tick the box “away on business ” and record a note if you wish, on the Administrator TimeClock
Log the staff member in and out again immediately using their initials. TimePeace will record the attendance in the log using that employee’s default start and finish times. If necessary these times can be edited in the log later.
The log record is ionized as a reference. The attendance is recorded in the weekly or fortnightly pay run and summary. - I pay my staff extra for working Saturday and Sunday. How does TimePeace accomodate that when it imports into my Payroll programme?
Easily!!! refer to Weekend pay rates - I pay my staff fortnightly. Does the Weekly Summary Report give fortnightly totals?
Yes. Just tick the fortnight option in the Control Centre and all pay ending reports will be for a fortnight. The import file into your payroll programme will also be for the default or chosen fortnight.
All other reports are date selective. - When you load a lunch break onto the system, does it take the 30 mins off their total time, or do they have to log in and out at lunch. If they have to log out is it possible to have it automatically take the 30 minutess if you tick that they are entitled to a lunch break?
Yes, Meal breaks are well catered for.
In your help files you have a file called “Important settings Information” and also the User Guide covers this
1.staff can log out for lunch and back in again after lunch and the programme does not deduct that staff member’s lunch OR
2. staff can log in on arrival and log out when they go home and the lunch break can automatically be deducted.
3. This option is controlled by settings in the Control Centre.
if you want to have the lunch deducted automatically
1.decide what the staff lunch break should be ie 30 minutes
2. select the 30 minute option in the control panel and UNTICK staff log out for lunch, still in the Control centre.
UNTICKING “staff log out for lunch” means the staff do not log out for lunch.
3. There is a utility to allocate say 30 minutes to all staff automatically
4. from the main MarkTime window select utilities and then update data files.
5.look for the button that says default lunch breaks, (top right centre).
6.select , and wait for the page to tell you that the utility is completed.
7. Now ALL staff will have a 30 minute lunch break set in their employee file.
8.If some staff have a lunch break other than 30 minutes then edit that staff member’s file manually. i.e. some part time staff may not have a lunch break and we don’t want to deduct 30 minutes from them so they have “No lunch” selected in their personal file. This means that a lunch break is still deducted from them but the lunch break is 0 minutes.
9.Staff will log in the morning and when they go home and 30 minutes will be deducted.
10. There can only be ONE logging activity for the day as each time they log off , 30 minutes wil be deducted, unless the Admin Timeclock is used. No lunch is deducted using the Admininstrator timeclock
trial it and see… can be stopped by ticking the box staff log out for lunch. - Does TimePeace keep a record of all the staffs holidays, and leave details?
Yes, automatically provided the Control settings and employee details are entered correctly !
Sick leave should be entered on a day to day basis from the Administrator TimeClock , while annual leave should be entered either daily or in bulk from Forward leave.
Optionally, on anniversary, the staff’s entitlements will accrue.
There are a number of reports detailing leave and a Utility calculates the number of sick days or annual leave owing to all staff. -
The following query has come up several times and I have fixed it but in a round about way. Is there a quick solution?G. forgot to log back in after lunch yesterday. Her morning hours are correct so I don’t want to change the Log Details in Browse screen. I want to add to the log but for yesterday. I notice that the two Admin TimeClock Log In/Out functions, do not specify a date.My previous fix has been to log in for today and then go back to Browse/Log Details and change all the details. What would you do?Thanks, JennyWhat Jenny has done is sound, but yes, there is now a simpler, faster way of doing it!
there is an on board utility called
“Add an extraordinary log record”
The window is self explanatory, the Administrator selects the employee, the date and number of hours to add to the log. One button push does the rest, and it can be done whether or not the employee is currently logged on. date sensitive meaning forward or historical. - I would like to suggest an additional feature for TimePeace. Will you add it for me?
TimePeace appreciates input and suggestions from clients to improve the service offered.
We will consider all new feature suggestions and if possible include them in a scheduled update provided the feature has merit, and would benefit most clients. - How do I pay for a TimePeace License?
An annual TimePeace license can be purchased by cheque , or using any On Line banking facility. We will provide account numbers. After paying the licensing fee, you will receive your activation code. - Do you accept Purchase Orders?
Yes, from registered NZ companies only. - Do you have a refund policy?
TimePeace does not issue refunds because our policy allows you to trial the programme for one month before you need to commit to a license, and sign a Contract. If expectations are different, then there is no obligation to purchase a license , your application will just stop working. However, your important data will stay intact and you can order a license at any time to reactivate. - How do I contact the Help desk?
